How do the Major Arcana differ from the Minor Arcana in Tarot?

The Major Arcana speak of grand themes and fateful energies, while the Minor Arcana address everyday situations and details.

✔ Avatarium breakdown
A Tarot deck is divided into 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. The difference lies in scale. The Major Arcana (The Magician, The High Priestess, Death, The Tower, and others) speak of life's big themes: key lessons, fateful turning points, and deep underlying energies. If a spread contains many Major Arcana, it points to something important and profound. The Minor Arcana (four suits—Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles) deal with the everyday: specific situations, emotions, tasks, money, and relationships in their ordinary flow. They add detail and 'ground' the spread. In a good interpretation, they are read together: the Major Arcana set the theme and level, while the Minor Arcana show how this unfolds in daily life. Neither is 'more important'—they complement each other. Tarot as a whole is a tool for reflection, not a verdict. You can try a spread in the Tarot section.
