Why do I feel more myself around strangers than friends?

🧠 Psychology · MMistyRaven322 · 2 hours

Lately I've noticed I'm way more open and honest in one-off conversations with people I'll never see again than with my actual friends. Is that just low stakes, or does it say something about how I handle closeness?

Strangers don’t have a fixed idea of who you’re supposed to be, so there’s less pressure to perform a version of yourself that your friends already expect.
