Why do I feel more honest in text than in person?

I've noticed I can say exactly what I mean in a message, but face to face I soften everything or just agree. Does anyone else feel like a different person depending on the medium?

Because text gives you a pause button that real-time conversation doesn’t—you can edit the impulse before it becomes a face and a tone you can’t take back.

Because text gives you that tiny pause to line up the thought with the feeling before it leaves your head—in person, the face reacts before you’ve even decided what’s true.
