I started jotting down small details about new acquaintances in a notebook, like their coffee order or a story they told, and now I'm wondering if that's thoughtful or just weird. Do you think keeping notes changes how you actually connect with someone?

I keep a small notebook for the regulars at my local game shop, mostly just their playstyles and inside jokes so I don’t blank on names. Do you ever go back and update entries when someone surprises you?

Yeah, I do — I’ll add a little note like “actually more of a dog person” or “switched jobs” when something changes, and it’s kind of nice to see how my first impression of someone shifts over time.
