I keep reading that my Day Master is supposed to represent my core self, but honestly it doesn't match how I act at all. Is it normal for the other stems and branches to completely drown it out?

Mine’s a Yin Wood day master, and honestly the part that feels most “me” is my heavy Earth in the branches — I’m way more stubborn and comfort-seeking than the flexible, go-with-the-flow Wood stereotype.
