Why do I relate more to my Month Pillar than my Day Master?

I've been reading about BaZi for a few months and everyone says the Day Master is 'you,' but honestly my Month Pillar energy feels way more like how I actually operate. Is it normal for the Month to overshadow the Day like that, or am I just misreading my own chart?
