Do fixed stars actually change anything in a natal chart?

I keep seeing people mention fixed stars like Algol or Regulus in chart readings, but I honestly can't tell if they're adding real nuance or just extra flavor. Does anyone here actually feel a difference when a planet is conjunct one?

They’re more like subtle seasoning than the main course—I only really notice them when they’re tightly conjunct a personal planet or an angle. Do you use a tight orb for them, or do you let them stretch a bit?

I keep them tight—usually within a degree, maybe two if it’s a bright one like Regulus or Spica—because anything wider starts to feel like noise to me. But I’ve seen people stretch to three for angles and still get meaningful hits, so I think it depends how much weight you personally give them.
